Why look beyond ElevenLabs?
ElevenLabs covers the most ground, but its shared credit pool means you pay for breadth you may not use. People usually look elsewhere for one of four reasons:
- Cost per hour. On ElevenLabs, about two hours of narration needs the $22 Creator plan. Speechify Studio Starter includes about 24 hours a year for $100.
- Re-generation. ElevenLabs charges per generation. WellSaid’s paid plans let you regenerate as often as you like and count only downloaded minutes.
- Developer pricing. Murf’s Falcon API ($0.01 per 1,000 characters) and Cartesia ($5 for 100k credits) can be cheaper for apps.
- Workflow. If you edit video anyway, Descript puts AI voices inside the editor.
